The greatest enemy of creation...
Learn Create Share is over 20 editions old! So we have two special opportunities.
Somehow I’ve made it to 20 editions and have just over that number of email subscribers 🥳 so I thought I’d try something different. An Ask Me Anything. Leave a question and I’ll respond (I may spread them out over several newsletters).
Ego is the Enemy Sketchnote Book Summary
Last year I read the book “Ego is the Enemy.” by Ryan Holiday. I started reading it because a series of events at work made me realise that Ego (my own and others) was the biggest barrier to doing good work.
That’s why I’ve sought to distance myself from work and ideas. By accepting ideas as their own, separate thing, it’s a lot easier to take criticism and find the best idea.
Creative Challenge: Make an obituary to your ego
To help overcome your ego, make an obituary to it. You could write an obituary declaring it dead and describing some of its “achievements” in your life (When Chris was 15, his ego turned bitter after being rejected by a girl). or you could draw a grave stone “Here lies Chris’s ego”. It’s up to you.
P.s. You can share your creations in the Learn Create Share community.
How a Twitter Clone Heralded a No-code Boom
Yes, I have started playing with some nocode tools after reading this article and I hope to add some more about my experience in Learn Create Share. It feels like a very appropriate choice. If you are interested in Nocode stuff, I’d love to discuss it some more.
Skater Girl: Photo exhibition
I enjoyed Jenny Sampson’s series of Skater Girls. It reminded me a lot of Joni Sternbach series of tiny type photos of surfers. There’s a real juxtaposition between this old technology which creates images that feel dated, and yet the subject matter is new.
If you are not challenging yourself, how are you going to grow?
There’s a bit of a Ryan Holiday theme in today’s newsletter. This episode resonated with me as I’ve had some real challenges at work recently. I wasn’t the most grateful at the time, but now I can see that I’ve grown from them.
Join the Learn Create Share Community
I’ve created a discord community for Learn Create Share. It’s a place where you can share great resources, get feedback and ideas on things you are creating and it will be used for the upcoming habit club.
Thank you
Thank you once again for joining me in this week’s newsletter. I hope to see you in the community.
